Tonight I’m watching the new CBS series UNFORGETTABLE. It’s about a woman who remembers everything. It t frustrates the hell out of me. I started having Gran Mal Seizures July 31st. I’ve had memory issues ever since. When I came out of my 1st seizure there were a lot of people looking at me. I guess we were in my bed room. I also guess one of the people was [ Read More ]

The Joy of Gardening I don’t really like gardening. My dad picked up on that when I was a teenager. When I was 16 the parental units and I had a misunderstanding . . . I was handed a plastic grocery sack and sent out into the wilderness (a.k.a. front yard). “You can’t come back in the house ’til that bag is filled with weeds!” my Dad called after me. [ Read More ]

My Sister Ashley is training for a Half-Marathon. Yesterday, in an attempt to show support, and wear-out my children, we all took a trip to the track.

East of the Sun The Moon, by Mercer Mayer is my all time favorite fairytale for children. It is a tale of a young maiden who rescues her true love from a troll princess in a far away kingdom. The illustrations are amazing: Father Forest, Great Fish of the Sea, and North Wind. Here are a few.

February 14, 2008:
For the second time today, I was standing at my kitchen window, looking out at the snow.
The first time was at 8:30 when I watched my lovely younger sister, get in her car and drive to work. The snow had drifted down lazily then, in fat soft flakes . . . like feathers. Ashley is twelve years younger than me. Consequently, I sometimes mother her. I could tell that today, especially, Ashley would need some extra mothering. Valentines Day is horrible when your twenty and between boyfriends.

“Have any of you seen the trailer for Beastly?” Aubrey asked the other day. “Yes! I have. It looks good. Interesting, because of the spin they put on it,” I enthuse. “You should read the book. It’s really good. I’m on a Beauty and the Beast kick,” Aubrey confides. And I can’t help thinking, who in the world goes on a Beauty and the Beast kick? But I read the [ Read More ]

I first stumbled across Beauty by Robin McKinley at age 14. Like everyone else who has ever read it, I loved it! Years later I found Rose Daughter, also by Robin McKinley, and fell in love with it as well. Last month I got on a Beauty and the Beast kick, I read Beauty, Rose Daughter, and Beastly( by Alex Flinn), back to back.
There was no deep reasoning behind this . . . it was just an impulse.

Grandma Leta (aka Mom, aka Aski) used to take calls while she was playing World Of War Craft, but then she started missing really important things. . .

Last night Erin called me. She really needed some advice and I’m happy to say I was there for her when she needed me most. Her little darling Princess Adelei will be 2 in May. Need I say more? She who is so cute and cuddly has become The Shrieking Banshee. After hearing her myself, I believe she is indeed a messenger from the Otherworld.
